She is now Head of the Teaching and Research Design Group in the Department of Engineering Science at the University of Oxford, with more than a decade of experience spanning industry and higher education.

Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning
Joe Watson was awarded a Senior Scholarship to study Information Engineering at the University of Cambridge. He is now a Postdoctoral Research Assistant at the Applied Artificial Intelligence Lab, University of Oxford, where his research focuses on world models, robot learning and data-based robotics. He has also worked on the Versius surgical robotics system and interned with Google DeepMind.

Exploring Cambridge’s historic sights and colleges is just the start. Walk the meadows to Grantchester, the idyllic village that inspired Rupert Brooke and the famous Bloomsbury Group, or take the optional trip into London itself for students keen to discover more.
Our social programme is all about connection, creativity, and giving students the confidence to try new things. Punt down the Cam, exploring everything from hands-on workshops to debate evenings, gallery visits, and relaxed welcome events, making wonderful friends along the way.
Cambridge has raced Oxford on the water for nearly two centuries, but you don't need to be a rower to feel that spirit of friendly competition. Football tournaments, classic English lawn games, and our own park "Olympics" keep things fun, lively, and open to everyone no matter their previous experience.
Graduation is held in a real Cambridge college hall, the same room where students have lived, studied, and ended their terms for centuries. Expect a formal dinner, followed by a lavish party to celebrate every student’s successes beside their new friends.

Academy Royale International’s summer school in Cambridge is a two-week residential academic programme for students aged 12–18. Students live and learn in historic Cambridge college settings, explore their chosen subjects and enjoy a full programme of activities, excursions and social events.
The summer school in Cambridge is open to students aged 12–18. Students study in age-appropriate classes, with programmes and pastoral arrangements designed separately for ages 12–15 and 16–18.
The 2027 summer school in runs from 4–17 July and 18–31 July. Each programme lasts two weeks, although students can attend consecutive sessions and choose a different subject for each programme.
No. Academy Royale International is an independent summer-school provider. We contract with Cambridge colleges for the use of their accommodation, dining, teaching and event facilities, but our programmes are not operated, authorised, endorsed or taught by the University of Cambridge.
Academy Royale International has delivered international academic summer programmes since 2004 and welcomed more than 50,000 students from over 175 countries. Students experience life in historic Cambridge college settings while following a curriculum refined over more than 20 summers.
Students can choose from subjects including Medicine, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Business, Law, Economics, Architecture, Psychology, Biotechnology, Creative Writing and Sustainability. Available subjects vary according to the student’s age and chosen session.
Morning classes typically run from 09:00 to 12:30, with afternoon academic sessions on three or four days each week. Lessons include seminars, discussions and practical challenges that encourage students to question ideas, apply their knowledge and present their conclusions confidently.
Students attending an academic programme should have approximately C1-level English or an IELTS score of 6.5 or above. Students who have studied at an English-speaking school for two or more years are exempt from the formal English-language requirement.
Students stay in selected historic Cambridge college accommodation. They experience the rhythm of student life through lessons in inspiring classrooms, meals in college dining halls and activities around the city. The specific college used depends on the programme, session and accommodation allocation.
College allocation depends on the student’s age, programme, session and availability. Accommodation may include single and twin bedrooms, with en-suite rooms available at some sites for an additional fee. Families can submit requests, but a particular college or room type cannot be guaranteed.
Yes. Male and female students are accommodated on separate corridors or staircases. Different age groups are also housed separately wherever possible, reflecting the different welfare and safeguarding arrangements for students aged 12–15 and 16–18.
Breakfast and dinner are included for all Cambridge students, with lunch also included for ages 12–15. Students aged 16–18 should budget approximately £10 per day for lunch. Most dietary requirements and allergies can be accommodated when submitted at least 60 days before the programme.
Campus access is carefully controlled, with trained residential staff, on-site support and 24-hour security arrangements. Students follow clear sign-in, sign-out and curfew procedures, and every campus has a 24-hour emergency contact number.
Students must sign out and back in whenever they leave campus. Students aged 12–15 may only leave in groups of at least three, while students aged 16–18 may leave in pairs. Younger students have earlier curfews and tighter limits on independent time.
Families should disclose medical conditions, disabilities, medication and learning differences through the secure student portal before arrival. This enables the team to assess requirements, plan appropriate support and, where needed, agree an Individual Student Support Agreement with the family.
Outside lessons, students enjoy sports, social events, cultural activities, workshops, guest lectures and excursions. Cambridge experiences may include punting on the River Cam, debate events, gallery visits, college activities and walks to Grantchester. An optional London excursion is also available for an additional fee.
