Dive into game creation in a British institution
Every internet success-story starts as an idea. Young Game Creators gives children the tools to build their own, no experience required. Guided by expert tutors, students run a creative studio, dreaming up worlds, designing characters, writing the story and coding the rules, then testing and refining their game until it’s ready to share.
Over two unforgettable weeks, you will design and build your own games, experience life at a British boarding school and make new friends from around the world.

HOW YOU'LL LEARN
From First Idea to Final Showcase
Our course makes learning fun and engaging by exploring a new topic each day. Our students come from all over the world, and to make the most of this diverse range of perspectives learning takes place through collaboration and group discussion in small classes.
Each day follows the same learning structure:

An immersive introduction that brings the day’s topic to life and sets an exciting new challenge to solve.

Worldbuilding
Getting creative to imagine new game worlds and the characters that live in them

Studio Sandbox
Put ideas into practise through hands-on coding, experimenting with new tools and building playable creations of your own.

The Showcase
Round off the day by presenting your creations, sharing what you have learned and celebrating each other’s ideas.

Get Active
Step away from the screen, head outdoors and recharge with energetic games, sports and activities alongside new friends.

The programme is designed for students who are curious, enthusiastic and love bringing ideas to life.
No experience is needed. Students are guided through every step of game creation by two expert tutors. All students need is curiosity and imagination.
The course is very hands-on. Students learn to code using programmes including Scratch, Junior Python and AI. They design characters, build levels and code their own playable game. By putting learning into practice, we develop skills and build confidence.
Yes. Students also enjoy two carefully planned full day excursions to exciting locations including London and Warwick Castle, giving them the chance to experience more of British culture and improve their language skills in novel ways.
Students need to have B1+ English language or equivalent to thrive on the course
A typical morning involves lessons exploring gaming ideas and introducing coding concepts. In the afternoon students have extended workshops or practical sessions building their games. The rest of the day is spent socialising with friends during activities, enjoying delicious meals in inspiring campus settings.
Children’s wellbeing is our top priority. Students have 24-hour supervision by our friendly residential team, with qualified first raiders on campus at all times and access to professional medical support. We maintain a staff:student ratio of 1:6 and conduct regular pastoral check-ins, ensuring that we are attentive to students’ needs at any time. Each member of staff also undergoes rigorous safeguarding training, and our campus leaders are highly experienced, giving you peace of mind for your child’s wellbeing.
Our students come from all over the world. Since our first summer school in 2004, we have welcomed students from over 175 countries. They speak a wide range of languages but they all come to learn and practice their English creating a vibrant community perfect for international students.
The programme takes place in the historic campus of Marlborough College in Wiltshire. The campus encompasses classrooms, labs, accommodation and plenty of green space. Students get a true taste of English boarding school life.
Class sizes are capped at 15. By teaching in small groups, we ensure that each student has a personalised relationship with their tutor. This means they receive high-quality constructive feedback and any support they need in class. It also means that students bond with their classmates, creating a friendly atmosphere in which students get involved and ask questions with confidence.
