Learn English by Living It
English Discovery makes language learning natural, active and enjoyable. Instead of relying on grammar exercises, students investigate ideas, solve problems and present exciting projects in English. Excursions and everyday campus life create even more opportunities to practise, helping students build confidence and communicate more fluently without it ever feeling like a lesson.
Developed by an English language education expert with more than 30 years’ experience in teaching, teacher training and curriculum design, the programme combines proven expertise with an approach younger students genuinely enjoy.

From First Words to Real Confidence
Every day mixes structured English lessons with sports sessions, creative clubs, and a lively evening social programme, offering well-rounded opportunities to build lasting friendships and confidence in English.
English Course
English Brought to Life
Two lessons in the morning, built around a project your child will find genuinely fascinating. Children investigate, present, and problem-solve in English, developing speaking, listening, reading and writing together, the way language actually gets used.
Sport, movement, and English, combined. Children test their vocab and grow in confidence through games and physical challenges. This kind of active learning, proven to develop fluency, doesn't feel like learning at all.
Academics: deepen critical thinking through Mixed Media Journalism, Young Changemakers, Presentations & Debates, and Build, Test, Improve.
Creative: channel your interests with hands-on experience in film-making, cooking, design and textiles, content creation, photography, sketching, and performing arts.
Get Active: strengthen mind and body while playing football, tennis, netball, swimming, water polo, cricket, dance, yoga, and more!
Drawing, building, performing, inventing, all in English. Creative Discovery turns practicing language into a passion project; children are motivated by their own innate curiosity to learn and express themselves in increasingly advanced ways.

Make friends from around the world
Enjoy time on the beautiful Marlborough College campus with your new friends from around the world. Play games in the common room, explore the campus grounds outside or simply unwind in your room.
After the school day ends, the English doesn't. Evening activities with new friends and shared adventures mean that children keep practising long after the last lesson, without even noticing they're still learning!
English Discovery brings learning to life through unforgettable excursions. Students explore historic Oxford, experience the magic of the Harry Potter Studio Tour, see London’s landmarks on an open-top bus tour and visit the Science Museum. They will also step back in time at Warwick Castle and enjoy a photo-challenge treasure trail at Cotswold Wildlife Park.
Learning English Beyond the Classroom
English Discovery takes children beyond the classroom into real situations: ordering food at the tuck shop, working together to solve challenges, making new friends from different countries. Every one of those moments is a chance to practise, and practice builds confidence.

No. English Discovery welcomes all levels from A1 upward. The course is built to grow your child's confidence from wherever they're starting.
English Discovery lessons are academically structured, but the focus is on applying English to projects, team challenges, and creative endeavours, ensuring learning never feels like a chore.
Very. Electives and optional Academies mean students learn through doing from day one, whether that's pitching a business, filming a scene, or working together on the sports field.
Mornings feature two English lessons built around lively weekly topics. Afternoons are either time for exciting Excursions, or Get Active and Creative Discovery sessions. Evenings always feature fun social activities, where children can make new friends and grow a little independence.
