About Balliol College
Founded in 1263, Balliol is one of the oldest and most prestigious Oxford colleges. Balliol boasts an impressive array of alumni, including four British Prime Ministers.
Since its foundation Balliol has been one of the most progressive, politically active and best-performing colleges of the University. Notable Balliol alumni include Adam Smith, father of modern economics, writers Matthew Arnold and Aldous Huxley and four British Prime Ministers: Herbert Asquith, Harold Macmillan, Edward Heath and Boris Johnson.
Balliol is perfectly located in the centre of Oxford, less than a 5-minute walk away from the Ashmolean Museum, Radcliffe Square and the city’s high street.

Accommodation details
Balliol is one of the colleges in which our Oxford Summer School is hosted. Students experience staying in real undergraduate accommodation which consists of single bedrooms. Bathrooms are shared between a few students. Male and female students are separated by corridors and/or staircases.
Campus Information
Founded in 1263, Balliol College boasts with two sprawling quads, a beautiful dining hall and plenty of outdoor space. Students living at Balliol experience a real taste of Oxford undergraduate life.

Safety
The campus is closed and monitored by security 24/7. Security is overseen by a Programme Director. Student safety and wellbeing is supported by counsellors who manage operations and provide pastoral, cultural and social care day and night.
